Lock in your production partner early. Bring your EMS provider into the conversation before your design freeze, not after. Early conversations catch sourcing issues while you still have room to adjust.
Loop your partner in on materials, not just fabrication. Board substrates, specialty laminates, and certain components carry their own lead times. A good partner flags those risks up front instead of after the purchase order is signed.
Build schedule buffer into complex designs. High layer count boards, tight tolerance builds, and anything destined for a regulated industry deserve extra runway. Padding your timeline now costs far less than a missed program milestone later.
